DIY Photo Christmas Ornament

With Christmas just around the corner, consider making a picture ornament. It’s easy, fast, inexpensive, and memorable! To make, print a photo on vellum and insert it into a glass ornament. Glass ornaments are readily available in craft stores around the fall and winter holidays.

Photo Serving Tray for Mom's Birthday

Today is my Mom's 73rd Birthday. She loves gifts made by me, my children, and pretty much anybody close to her. And, usually for Christmas I give her and my sister (who lives north of me) my latest DIY passion. So, for her birthday, I put together a PHOTO SERVING TRAY, complete with a few collages of my latest photos and pictures of her grandchildren. It cost me more to send it than it did to make it because like always, I waited to the last minute to ship it. :-) I purchased the Photo Serving Tray at Barnes & Noble on a super discount (around $7---originally $30), and the pictures came from Walgreens for less than .19 a picture. BTW, my MOM LOVED IT! It arrived yesterday, and she called me last night....all smiles. I realize that the pictures are a little busy looking, but I was not shooting for a professional product to sell. I was shooting for a DIY gift that my Mom would love and she did. :-) This makes a great gift, and is easy and fast.

Decorate your walls with photos

Do your walls need some decoration? By far, the easiest DIY project. Print your own photos, or have someone else print them for you. You can get digital photo prints numerous places.

Personally, I have been purchasing my prints at Walgreens. Because they produce fast, same-day, inexpensive prints, decorating your walls can be a quick same-day project.  Walgreens sells all of your traditional size prints, including poster size prints and collages (like the one below) starting less than $10. Typically, they have a coupon running on their prints. This week (in my area), the coupon was $10 off any order of $20.00 or more. They do a great job and the prints can be ready the same day within a couple of hours.

I try and choose frames under $20, even for my poster size photos. Recently, I purchased 6 white 11x14 frames on clearance at Target for $6.98 a piece. Yes, you can spend a lot of money on frames but you don't have too. Select a frame within your budget.

Welcome to IdeasforPhotos...

Jacksonville Beach, Sunrise, October 2012

Hi. My name is Sheri, otherwise known as Stockpixie on several weather sites including weather.comaccuweather.com, and wunderground.com. Landscape Photography is my passion. You can often find me in front of a Sunrise or Sunset on the weekends taking pictures with my Nikon D5100. When I am not taking pictures, I am searching for something "nifty" to do with them, or actually, anything to do with them other than sitting in my camera. Hence, this website! It's dedicated to all those that take the time to share their ideas so that I never run out of cool things to do with my photos.
